I find the discussion within these comments to be excellent; Hitting home exactly where I like discussions to hit. The lifters I'm dealing with right now are out of a 1996 Chevrolet 5.7 L Vortex with nearly 400,000 km on it. It was running good but the intake manifold gaskets let loose spewing antifreeze into the oil. I'm doing the head gaskets too, while I'm in there. Before I tore it down, a couple of the lifters were slow pumping up but were fine when they warmed up; this being said I have decided to use the old lifters (not going to touch the cam). I took them all apart and soaked them for hours in carb cleaner. They were full of that famous antifreeze-oil milkshake crap, and there was plenty of the sludge and varnish. I swabbed em out just like you did, and then blew some more carb cleaner through them with the compressor. I figured that if I install new lifters on the old cam (and the fact that todays new 'eastern' parts are often defective) I could just be opening a can of worms. Even with the natural wear on the old lifters, I think I might be further ahead using them. The motor will only last as long as the fairly high mileage bottom end anyways. Another thing that is causing me alot of hesitation is the 'to bleed or not to bleed' question? New school vs old school lifters. Should the lifters be totally bled when installed to facilitate easy rocker nut adjustment? You'll know what I mean seeing the 5.3L you are doing on your engine stand? Thanks for your video.

Had this issue for the longest . From the pedal sensor , tot he throttle body , occasionally popped up on my 2007 Tahoe . Until one day on the on the freeway while it was raining it reduced the power (speed) and drove me out of control , thank god I’m alive . And survived to tell it . Sold the car immediately . Just before that I took it to the dealer for diagnostic before I gave up on it , and the solution which was not for certain was at 4K for starters , I better invested in a newer car .

I purchased roller lifers during Covid, quality control was garbage. 4 sets to get 16 working lifters. Faults Collapsing, would not flow oil, internal plungers not round and jamming in the main body. I created a lifter press to take the lifters apart. I finally had to use old lifer parts to get the final two working. These were name brand not $99 dollar eBay parts.

Hello I'm having a problem with the knock sensor in my 2003 GMC Yukon XL 2500. I've changed the original sensor, wire and refrigerator face three times, yet the Check Engine Light is still on. The codes that appear on the scanner are P0300, P0332, and P0327. I also changed the spark plugs with the wire, and used #41-110 spark plugs as recommended by the parts store, even though the recommended spark plug number for my car is 41-962 according to the chassis number. I would like to know if the problem may be caused by using #41-110 spark plugs instead of 41-962. Please let me know as soon as possible. Thanks
